Elon Musk celebrates Trump's predicted election win with bizarre sink picture | The Standard
News | US Politics
Elon Musk celebrated Donald Trump’s shock win in the US election by tweeting a bizarre picture of himself appearing to carry a sink in the Oval Office.
The X owner has been one of the former President’s most vocal supporters and donors.
A strange photoshopped image of Musk carrying the bathroom equipment in the White House office was posted to his 203million followers with the caption: “Let that sink in”.
He proclaimed victory for the Republicans as soon as Trump took an early lead over Kamala Harris.
“Game, set, and match,” the Tesla and SpaceX boss declared on his social network just after 3.30am GMT.
“America is a nation of builders. Soon, you will be free to build,” he added.
Another post pictured a flying rocket with the caption: “The future is gonna be fantastic.”
Musk is believed to be the richest person in the world, with a net worth of $263.8 billion.
He has donated more than $130m to the Republican campaign during the 2024 US election and aggressively lobbied for the party in key swing states.
But earlier this week he was sued in a proposed class action by registered voters who signed his petition to support the Constitution for a chance to win $1 million every day, and now claim it was a fraud.
The complaint filed by Arizona resident Jacqueline McAferty in the Austin, Texas federal court said Musk and his America PAC organisation falsely induced voters to sign by claiming they would choose winners randomly when they were allegedly predetermined.
Musk posted on his on X/Twitter account that he planned to spend election night with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Trump's campaign also hosted a watch party at the West Palm Beach Convention Center for thousands of supporters.
As a major government contractor, with SpaceX reaping billions of dollars a year, Musk stands to gain from a Trump presidency.
It has been suggested that he could be appointed to a federal advisory commission.
Trump has said he would form a “government efficiency commission” that would perform “a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government.”
“I think we can [cut] at least $2 trillion,” Musk said at Trump’s flagship rally at Madison Square Garden last month.
Previously he has said a Trump victory would create “an opportunity to do kind of a once-in-a-lifetime deregulation and reduction in the size of government”.
